RFI shielding

This assignment makes me think of something from Star Trek. When I read the assignment notes, I pictured a giant electromagnetic pulse assaulting the good ship Enterprise, effectively disabling all electronic devices, including the transporter, and endangering the lives of all crew aboard the vessel.

While that is a sensational picture, the reality is nothing so exotic. RFI shielding is a material that prevents the interruption of electronic devices or components by electromagnetic interference (EMI) or radio frequency interference (RFI). The website showed related brochures for such items as conductive fabric over foam, microwave absorbers, vent panels, and air filters.

Does anyone know anything more about this than I do?
