Purchasing furniture

Furniture is often a big investment for a family, and once the children come along, kids bedroom furniture is added to the list. No matter what kind of furniture is purchased, it should be of the highest quality that you can afford.

Here are some questions to consider before making your purchase:

  • Is the item made out of solid wood or is particle board used?
  • How are the joints connected: glue, nails/screws, dovetail, or overlapped?
  • Is the piece solid or fragile overall?
  • If purchasing children’s furniture, is it intended for long-term use or will its usefulness be short-lived? (changing table, non-convertible crib, etc.)

No matter your need, do your homework before you make a purchase.
