Connections matter

Mr. Incredible works for the local power company. He is the man who turns off the power when people "forget" to pay their bill for months on end. He also turns the power on or off when people move so he's not always the bad guy. The girls know that he works for the power company but don't really understand what he does.

One day our power flickered twice before finally cutting out and plunging us into semi-darkness. Pookie Bear frantically told me, "Mom! The power's all gone! We have to call Daddy to fix it!"

I explained that Daddy couldn't fix it but that his friends could.

"Mommy, tell Daddy his friends have to fix it!" was the rejoinder.

I did exactly that, and our power was restored in less than half an hour. It's nice to have friends in high places when it's time for a power supply repair!
