Just like dominoes toppling

Mr. Incredible loves electronics; the higher the quality and the more advanced the technology, the happier he is. For several years he has been drooling over the HDTV’s that are now available. For the past two years, he has been intending to purchase one with a portion of our tax return money. So far, we have had to use the money for other needs, but next year is the year. I am determined that he will finally get the widescreen HDTV for which he has so patiently waited.

Regrettably, he cannot purchase only the TV. On the contrary, this one purchase dictates that we must make many more purchases. For example: to receive optimal signal, we must purchase enormous quantities of HDMI cable. Housing the new TV requires a new entertainment center, for our current one is simply too small. Even had our current stereo system not been failing, we would have had to buy a new system so that Mr. Incredible could enjoy the increased wattage and higher quality of the new 5.1 surround sound systems. Additionally, since he is upgrading to the latest and greatest, he must have the new HD DVD player/recorder.

See how it goes? Just like dominoes that are lined up in a row, once that chain reaction starts, there is no stopping it! What does this chain reaction look like in your house?

This is exactly what will happen at our house when we finally take this plunge! Good luck! :)

Thank you, Andrea! :) These grown up boys sure do love some expensive toys!

It is amazing that to get one device today you have to get so many peripheral pieces to go with it. Though once he gets the TV, he'll find a lot of pleasure with it.

Oh, boy, is he ever looking forward to getting everything updated! We got a home theater system last night to replace the stereo system that is going out. That alone has thrilled him. I was pleased that the system is not only a CD player but also plays DVD's and many other types of digital media. At least he doesn't have to buy a separate DVD player now; well, until Blue Ray players become MUCH cheaper, anyway.

Well, sounds like he's ready for some serious viewing and listening. Enjoy!

Thanks, Frank! He spent all day yesterday reworking all his connections, and now that it's all set, he's loving it.
