Explaining my absence

First, on Wednesday Mr. Incredible thought I had been spending too much time on the computer and asked me not to get back on the Internet that day. (In all honesty, he was right.)

Yesterday, I had an eye exam. No problem. Baby Bear had suddenly spiked a fever on Wednesday night, but I needed to get her more medicine anyway and felt justified in keeping my appointment with all the kids in tow. I walked in and told the receptionist I was there for my appointment. I had just given my name when Baby Bear heaved.

"Oh, no!" I exclaimed as I covered her mouth with my hand and rushed outside, leaving my other two girls inside (!). I held Baby Bear on my lap, trying desperately to contain the damage from her continuing heaving and silently thanking the foresight that dictates that my diaper bag always contain an extra change of clothing for each girl.

As soon as Baby Bear quit vomiting, I hurried back inside to retrieve my patiently waiting girls and inform the receptionist that I would have to reschedule the appointment.

We picked up more medicine and went home, where Baby Bear spent most of the day snuggled in my arms. I'm happy to report that she did not throw up again and that her fever, while not altogether gone, is not as high today. I hope she'll be all better soon.
